Call for young poets to participate in 34th FIPMed

In order to expand the participation of poets from the world, the city and the country in the Festival, taking into account the enormous number of people who apply to participate each year, and as an effective way to meet new voices in the current poetry scene, the International Poetry Festival of Medellin invites you to participate in this call, dedicated to recognizing the enormous importance of poetry written by young people today.

Up to sixteen poets, foreign and national, will be chosen to participate in the 34th edition of the Festival, to be held between July 13 and 20, 2024.

RULES:

1. Poets under 40 years of age, of any nationality and of any language, whatever their place of residence, may participate. Poets who have participated in the International Poetry Festival of Medellin in any of its 33 previous versions are excluded from this call.

2. Poets who send their works in languages other than Spanish must also send their respective versions in Spanish.

3. In a single document in PDF or Word, each participant must send 20 poems (unpublished or published) and a bio-bibliographic sheet or essential presentation data. Attached to the document, each author must also send a high resolution photo and contact information: email, telephone, WhatsApp and address of residence. 4. The juries will select up to four international poets, up to four Colombian poets, and up to eight poets from Medellín, to participate in the 34th Medellín International Poetry Festival.

5. At their discretion, the juries may recommend to the Festival's management additional names of poets who, in their judgment, could be invited.

6. Participation in the Festival will be in person. The selected international poets and the designated national poets who live outside Colombia must arrange their air tickets. The organization of the 34th FIPMed will cover lodging and food expenses for poets who live outside Medellín.

7. This call is open from the date of its publication and closes on April 15, 2024.

8. The names of the jurors will be announced on the day of the decision, which will be issued on April 30.
